i guess my 19th birthday is pretty much complete :)

today was supposed to be a normal wednesday; meaning, i go to the office, sit at the computer/desk and work on some excel file. However, today Lucas was on leave so i had to manage the cafe :D I learned how to make drinks, press the little knob beneath the cash register to make the till pop out, and.. stamp 500 envelopes with the AYA address and "Please Do Not Bend" chop.

I had about 10 students come in and sit down, order something, and make quite a bit of noise. I changed the CD that was playing in loop a couple of times. When i thought i found a whole stash of interesting albums, i realized they were all CD covers with no actual CD inside :(

Anyway, in the span of 8 hours, i chopped about 500 envelopes, made 2 sprite ribena's and tazo tea, alternated the CD playing from hillsong to local indo band to altered frequency, annndd finished reading "The Shack". Oh.. and i ate lunch and answered a few calls in between that list.

When it was 5.30, i was about to leave but waited for someone to close the cafe. Then went upstairs to the office. For some reason, everyone from the two floors of AYA office, was in the 3rd floor and just standing around talking. I thought Ps was having some meeting, so i happily walked passed them to get to the back office. Then in the midst of getting there, Yvonne did the failed attempt of "you walk this way, i walk the other way" and suddenly there was a huge "haaaaapppyy birrrthdaaaay to youuu!!"

and i screamed.
Because it was so loud okay! normally there aren't 15 people on that floor, and because the hallway is so narrow.. the sound of their voices just resonated and bounced off the floor-to-ceiling dividers. Aiyo, for a moment my heart went into panic-mode. I seriously was shocked.

Shirley walked out with a "cornetto cake" ie. 16 cornetto cones arranged nicely on a casserole dish. Ps. Sandra prayed for me and we went along eating our ice-cream and laughing at how i had such a awesome reaction :P I don't think i've ever screamed at any successful surprise do. I was very blessed. esp 'cause i got a birthday prayer and i'm always encouraged when that happens :)

no pictures, unfortunately. But maybe i'll get to introduce the whole office gang when i take photos at the Awards, which are in 2 weeks. EEK. loadsa work to do. Apparently, i'm the Nominee Liaison on that night. oooohh. fancy-schmancy name, eyh?
