tak ada air! photo credit:watersecretsblog.comwe have no water. meaning, the city of Jackson has no running water. You see, this city is not used to subzero or negative temperatures like.. -5 and below. So, the pipes froze (they turned off the water mah) and then.. when they turned it on again, it burst. The main pipelines running through the whole city. We have crews (some came in from neighboring towns and states) working all through the night trying to repair this. I heard that these pipes are a centuries old. ish. tak ada duit la this city.
Anyway, what does this mean for us? Belhaven campus has shut down because their heating system runs on water (yes all students were asked to go home or live elsewhere for the time being. till monday at least) And since i'm off campus w Caitlin, we're in our apt up the road from campus. Thank God we have electric heating. Our water is slowly coming back. 2 of 3 of our bathrooms work. Last night we had to go to the Delanski's to take a shower. Had an awesome time of playing Dutch Blitz!! (finally, kajeh!)
Basically what this game is is that it's a mix of solitaire, plus cho tai ti (with numerous piles in the middle) and color combinations. The idea is to get ride of ur 'blitz pile'. Whoever gets rid of the blitz pile first shouts 'BLITZ' and then everyone counts up how many cards they put in the center (you'll know your card by the reverse side having a picture). Whoever shouted Blitz gets an additional 5 points to their score. The score = number of cards in center - blitz pile. It's a very addictive game. Although, i'm sure i described it in a very boring way :P Will have to video it sometime. I'm so glad Caitlin has TWO decks!! Okay, off to clearing up and deco-ing my apartment!
